In May, 1998, Mike Oliphant was overseeing work on his company's first new construction job in San Jose, CA, when he received an unexpected phone call. After securing a long sought-after piece of land between the fourth and sixth holes, the Pebble Beach Company was looking to complete Samuel F.B. Morse's original plan of an oceanside par 3 fifth hole at Pebble Beach Golf Links. The next day, Mike was in a golf cart with Jack Nicklaus reviewing plans. Just two weeks later, work began on the much anticipated new 5th hole. |
In the ten years since, Oliphant Golf has performed annual renovation projects at the Pebble Beach Company's four Monterey golf courses: Pebble Beach Golf Links, Spyglass Hill, The Links at Spanish Bay, and Del Monte Golf Course. The scope of work has ranged from individual tee additons, to course-wide bunker reconstructions at Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill. |

In addition to golf course feature work, OGC crews have installed miles of drainage pipe and large scale curtain drains. By all accounts, the drainage program has been a great success in improving conditions for both everyday play, and for the annual Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. |
